Child & Youth Counselling

Individual sessions work with child and youth clients (ages 4-12) to explore, in a safe and supportive environment, their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Whether through pro-social skills, modelling or promoting executive functioning, our goal is to help your child explore their experiences so that they can shift forward. Focus on play and expressive therapy with regulation skills to effectively integrate at home or school.

Teen Counselling

Individual sessions work with teenage clients (ages 13-18) to explore, in a safe and supportive environment, their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Common presenting concerns addressed through talk- and expressive therapies can include depression, anxiety, suicide, self-harm or coping with divorce. Expressive writing, games or art in session aim to focus on the feelings and reactions that emerge while creating, rather than on the end product.

Parent Support / Counselling Sessions

For therapy to be most effective, it is recommended that therapist and caregivers work together to discuss and learn strategies such as regulation, coping skills, alternative parenting tactics, etc. These sessions are designed so that you can use the same techniques learned in session and/or to educate you about your child’s brain/developmental stage so that you can better understand their behaviours. If you have a certain skill or topic in mind, sessions will be tailored to suit your needs.

Parental Guardianship: Services for children ages twelve and under require consent from any and all legal guardians. With BC's 2013 Family Law Act4 (FLA) passing, rules exist that make it clear that parents must consult with each other before they consent to counselling and the provision of other health care services for their children. In cases where parents are separated or divorced, court rulings regarding custody or guardianship may limit the rights of one parent to take a child to see a counsellor without the consent of the other. We will make every attempt to reach out to all guardians listed to include them in the treatment process.
